Especially, when the story itself, comparing to the previous books, is less entertaining and too melodramatic for my taste. I found it pretty boring and flat, hxrtinger after struggling through the half of it, I decided to give up. But Russel loves Otto. The characters’ narrative voices sound authentically teen, and the section in which Russel tells about his coming out to his parents, their reaction, and his subsequent talk with the family priest particularly rings true.
I liked this technique employed by the author as I felt it was true to life in how we all are not completely honest in recounting stories that deal with strong emotions particulary when they involve love and heartbreak.

I completely understand what Brent Hartinger was doing, and I don’t disagree that the scenes we saw from both POVs were important, but ultimately it was annoying and draggy to have to reread so much stuff.
